one last meal

Hi friend,

Meditation matters.

It helps us gently draw our attention to quiet, extraordinary movements of God. There's something about hushed remembrance—as the Psalmist says—deep calling to deep.

Our space becomes still. Our hearts soften in quiet honor to the Holy One who gave His everything—and we see that our lives are that precious. And we are that loved.

So we mark this one week out of the year as sacred.

We've been reflecting on our Lord Jesus' Last Supper and would like to share it with you.

Narration and vocals - Greg Ferguson

We're imagining this scene:

a lamp-lit Middle Eastern room from two millennia past,

looking nothing like we

in our postmodern world,

have ever pictured.

imagine being present

in the room

in this

intimate moment

with Jesus Himself

and His disciples

you're watching

this

in utter

silence

soaking in

what you're

seeing and hearing

in person

notice the urgency

the undercurrent of anxiety

yet...HIS stunning inner peace:

one last meal

with the noise of the throng

still pulsing in Your brain

You pulled together Your people

Your inner circle

and You took them

away

away from the melée and the white hot spotlight

away from conspiracies in dark corners

plots to kill

the intrigue

the betrayal

away to breathe

to gather around

a simple table

as brothers

as friends

for one

last

meal

as the night closed in

You bent down

and poured water on their feet

washed them clean

broke open bread

and poured out wine

which blew their minds

Your words rang so cryptic in their ears

they could hardly hear

through their fear

look at Me—

look at Me

keep your focus

You said

it will get dark

darker than this

darker than the blackest night

but trust what I’ve said

in the light

you know far more than you think you do

you are not abandoned

I will come to you

stay together

do not cave to fear

there is so much more here than meets the eye

your gasping pain will turn to joy

trust in Me

focus

stay as one

don’t split up, don’t scatter

when it all comes down

one thing matters

this is what you must remember

when My blood has spilled

and My earthly life is through…

it’s for you

Observing Good Friday through a lens we don't often look through, we'll be sharing another post tomorrow.

I could just picture Jesus saying this. I've been watching The Chosen and it has taught me much more of Jesus's life then I ever knew. Jesus gave His life for US. Why don't people realize how important and serious this is? It saddens me to think that Hell will be full because they didn't take Christ serious. Lord have mercy on the unsaved. Let me be an example to others so they get to heaven. Come Jesus come, we've been waiting so long.
